Interview with the Artist of the ‘Cardiff Kook Shark Attack’

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

Much to the disappointment of the ‘save the shark campaigners’ the local authorities removed this Great White masterpiece after only 3 days on display. Made out of mostly paper-mache and wood, this may be the best ever spoof on the Cardiff Kook statue. In this video we here from the artist responsible what may be the prank of the summer.

Cardiff Kook: Shark Bait

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Much to the amusement of the local Cardiff surfing community, the infamous ‘Cardiff Kook’ falls victim to another prank, this time a shark attack!! Over the years this surfer statue has fallen victim to pranksters dressing him in all kinds of ridiculous costumes, most notably as a Ballerina and as a Surfing Janitor (depicting stand up paddle boarders).

This may be the best prank yet on the “Cardiff Kook” dubbed as such by locals who say the limp-wristed bronze statue depicting a surfer on a surfboard is a poor representation of the surfing community. Witnesses said shark fins were placed near the statue a few days prior to the ‘attack’ as if a shark was circling its prey.
